Abstract

The Fortran 90 standard provides a handful of minor enhancements to the I/O features delineated in the FORTRAN 77 standard. The new standard I/O features supply capabilities that are generally available in one way or another in most computing environments supporting a FORTRAN 77 implementation. Even so, the Fortran 90 features described in this chapter improve the ease of use of the language and the portability of programs written in it.
