Abstract
Technological advances in communications and data security bring with them serious questions about the control of such technology, particularly if the technology is related to national defense and law-enforcement. The government has to perform a high-wire balancing act, weighing those needs against the privacy and freedom of its citizens. This section presents some of the most important documents issued by the U.S. Government as it struggles to strike an appropriate balance.
