Abstract

The genesis of this book was the enthusiastic response to a teaching course organized by Dr. Tolbert Wilkinson and presented by the three authors of this text at the 1992 American Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons annual meeting. Because we had so often borrowed ideas and expertise from each other, and yet pursued our individual goals and techniques, it was appropriate to prepare a text that would encompass all of the techniques as well as the extensive experience of the authors. Although the operation is still in transition, experience with the procedure definitely improves the cosmetic results. We offer a series of technical changes that may be adapted and improved by the experienced plastic surgeon for the benefit of the patients.
