Abstract
This chapter focuses on methods of evaluating physicians’ communication skills in the clinical interview. The first section presents a general model of program evaluation methods and provides an example drawn from a medical interviewing course. The next section reviews several types of evaluation measurements and discusses selected examples that have been tested and reported. The final section of the chapter comments on future directions for evaluation research in this area.
