Abstract

Left ventricular aneurysm develops following myocardial infarction in 10%–38% of patients.1,7,41 Since Cooley’s report9 in 1958 of resection utilizing cardiopulmonary bypass, the operation has become an established treatment for ventricular aneurysm causing congestive heart failure, intractable ventricular arrhythmia, or systemic emboli; resection of aneurysm in conjunction with coronary artery bypass for angina is also common.
