Abstract
Fourteen years after the introduction of the IBM PC it is clear that microcomputer power is here to stay and that it will only get better and cheaper. The local area network with a computer on everyone’s desk will soon be the de facto standard. For the mental health professional the personal computer will be as fundamental as the stethoscope and CT scanner are for the physician.
