Complete Atrioventricular Canal

  • Chapter
Illustrated Handbook of Cardiac Surgery

Abstract

The pioneering work in the 1960s by Rastelli and his colleagues at the Mayo Clinic defined the anatomy of atrioventricular (AV) canal defects and developed a rational approach to surgical correction. Continued refinement of their basic principles has resulted in a surgical approach that is reproducible and predictable in its outcome.
