Abstract

Muscular involvement is common in endocrine diseases and does not generally pose a substantial diagnostic problem. Imaging and spectroscopic techniques used in the exploration of muscle are mainly complementary to pathophysiological studies. An exception to this rule is thyroid associated ophthalmopathy (Graves’ ophthalmopathy). In the evaluation of this particular disease, diagnostic imaging techniques such as ultrasound, CT, and MRI are of considerable clinical importance.
