Abstract

Ultrasound is a form of energy consisting of mechanically produced longitudinal waves with frequencies above the range of human hearing [i.e., above 15 to 20 cycles per second (Hertz, Hz)].1 Medical imaging most commonly uses frequencies from 2 to 12 MHz.
