Abstract
The hallmark of the perimenopause in women is decreased ovarian and reproductive function. However, this period of life coincides with other notable somatic effects of aging, one of which has been termed the thymic menopause, which results in a decline of immune function. This chapter reviews the interrelationship between ovarian function and the immune system, and the effects of aging on this relationship.
