Abstract
Most readers of this book are no doubt familiar with John Conway’s famous Game of Life. Life is an example of what have come to be called cellular automata. I will discuss here another such automaton, called the ant, and though it is very easy to describe, its behavior is interesting and somewhat mysterious.
