Abstract
Electrical evidence of denervation following a nerve injury first appears at approximately 3 weeks following the injury. Spontaneous fibrillations will first appear in denervated muscle following transection of the motor axon approximately 2 to 4 weeks following the nerve injury. Axonal growth following primary repair of a peripheral nerve laceration occurs at a rate of 1 mm/day after an initial period of postinjury repair.
