Abstract
As a part of Siberia, the Russian Far East (RFE) currently represents the world’s primary resource of conifers. This biospheric significance of the RFE will have a tendency to increase while tropical forests diminish. A second RFE contribution to global biotic resources is its biological diversity, which saturates the RFE as a whole, especially its southern part, including the Primorye region. The numerous floral and faunal elements—indigenous, endemic, and newcomers from adjoining areas—create a biodiversity here at different levels: forest, meadow, and tundra formations, with a wide variety of ecosystems and communities. These structures display interconnecting and variable cooperation, some of them undergoing succession, others rapidly evolving; some are very close to extinction following intense anthropogenic stress
