This 34-year-old man sustained a severe crush injury to the left lower extremity when a forklift fell on that extremity. He presented to us approximately 1 week after the injury and after initial debridement. There was a large, full-thickness skin-loss open wound of the anteromedial aspect of the distal third of the tibia with exposed tibia (Figure 14.1).
