Abstract
If you ask several experienced UNIX users which editor they use, most of them will answer either vi or Emacs. Most vi users will vi or Emacs base their choice on having used this editor for 20 years and will point out that it is available on all UNIX platforms. The Emacs users, on the other hand, will point out that their editor is extremely flexible and functional.
