Abstract

There is a huge literature on arithmetically Gorenstein ideals, and it is well beyond the scope of this book to give a thorough treatment of the subject. The purpose of this chapter is to collect the definitions, facts and results that we will need in the coming chapters when we talk about liaison theory for subschemes of projective space, in the generality of “linking” by arithmetically Gorenstein ideals rather than only by complete intersections.
