Abstract
As a discipline matures, two things occur — sequentially and often over some period of time: (i) research interest in the topic explodes, creating a diverse number of approaches to solving the problem and, consequently, (ii) industry demands some sort of rationalization as the technology is transferred from research laboratories to the practising software engineering professional. We are now at that transition point with object-oriented methodologies.
