Abstract

One of the premier strengths of laparoscopy has been its usefulness as a diagnostic modality that can minimize morbidity and shorten the postoperative recovery period. Laparoscopy is increasingly being applied in clinical situations in which the diagnosis is uncertain, or in patients in whom a traditional laparotomy might impose significant morbidity.
