Executives’ Views of Mobile Information Services

  • Chapter
Perspectives of Information Systems

Abstract

The concepts of traveling executive and executives’ mobile information system are discussed in this chapter, along with the results of interviews with 49 executives in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Finland about their work and their use of information technology (IT). Some executives had positive attitudes about mobile IT services, but many had not yet realized the potential advantages of these services. The future expectations of the executives are also analyzed, especially concerning the mobile use of IT services as part of mobile computing. The use of IT services is widespread. Much of this chapter is taken from Puuronen and Savolainen (1996, 1997).
