Abstract
Vertical alignment of headers and footers with respect to the top and bottom of the page is defined at the start of the document. The appearance of the page at major document divisions—chapter, section, and so forth—depends on the specific font and spacing built into the document class for that division. Spacing between paragraphs can be modified by resetting \parskip. Rotation is done in the graphics and picture packages and is discussed in Part 7. Horizontal alignment refers to the way the main body text is blocked out on the page relative to the right and left edges of the paper. This chapter examines how Latex changes local horizontal alignment.
