Abstract

We live in an age of technological revolution. With the help of technology, medical care previously thought to be miracles not within the grasp of mortals are routinely performed on a daily basis. The challenge does not seem to be what we can do, but rather how quickly can we assimilate these new modern day miracles into the mainstream of society. The assimilation of technology is not the only challenge. The other challenge is to handle the information explosion that is necessary to stay current and confident in all of the new treatment options that are being procured on a daily basis. These are the challenges that the Yale Curriculum for Laparoscopic Surgery is meant to overcome. The foundation of our focused efforts supports the interface of cost-effective, technological advances with patient care objectives.
