Abstract
Suppose we are given a vector field on some open setUin the plane. Then this vector field has two components i.e. we can write
, where p, q are functions of two variables (x, y). In everything that follows, we assume that all functions we deal with are C’, i.e. that these functions have continuous partial derivatives, and similarly for vector fields and curves.
