Abstract

Center manifold theory [6] is a method which uses power series expansions in the neighborhood of an equilibrium point in order to reduce the dimension of a system of ordinary differential equations. The method involves restricting attention to an invariant subspace (the center manifold) which contains all of the essential behavior of the system in the neighborhood of the equilibrium point as t → ∞.
