Abstract

Most differential equations admit neither an exact analytic solution nor a complete qualitative description. Perturbation theory provides a most useful collection of methods for the study of equations close to equations of a specific form. These equations are called unperturbed, and their solutions are assumed to be known. Perturbation theory studies the effect of small changes in the differential equations on the behavior of solutions.
