  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Graduate Texts in Mathematics ((GTM,volume 159))

Abstract

In this chapter the classical theory of the Hardy spaces on the open unit disk will be explored. The structure of the functions belonging to the spaces Hp will be determined, and this will be applied to characterize the invariant subspaces of multiplication by the independent variable on a Hardy space.
