Abstract
In this text, we try to explain how some concepts developed in nonlinear microlocal analysis can be used for solving problems in 2-D fluid mechanics. First, we are going to present some classical and basic facts about 2-D fluid mechanics. After this, we are going to introduce the classical vortex patch problem. Then, before explaining why nonlinear microlocal analysis has something to do with fluid mechanics, we shall recall the way in which a part of microlocal analysis became nonlinear.
