Abstract
To provide a deeper understanding of the guideline, we discuss the theories, concepts, and themes that form the guideline’s philosophical basis. We also present several criticisms of an otherwise excellent document, especially focusing on the sometimes inexact and widespread use of the term “quality.” Also, for the reader to have a better understanding of our interpretation of the guideline, we briefly discuss the manner in which we deal with the documentation required for the Quality Policy, Quality Manual, and Quality Plan that make up so much of the ISO 9000 literature.
