Abstract
Laws are not created in a vacuum. They are shaped by numerous social forces that bring them into existence. The forces of scientific discovery and new technology often give birth to new laws designed to serve the needs and desires of an ever demanding society. In general, the birth of new laws does not go either unnoticed or unchallenged. The proponents of such new laws are often confronted with serious questions that challenge not only the efficacy of these laws but also their ethical foundation.
