Abstract
The EB virus latent nuclear protein, EBNA-2, is required for immortalisation of B cells by EBV (1). We have shown that the non-immortalizing deletion mutant P3HR-1, cannot express latent cycle proteins other than EBNA-4-LP in primary B lymphocytes (2). This suggested that a gene affected by the HR-1 deletion is required for the expression of other EBNAs in primary B lymphocytes. We are now studying the molecular mechanism underlying this observation.
