Abstract

Strictly speaking, food allergy occurs in only 2% of adults and 5 to 10% of children. The true incidence is clouded by the frequent occurrence of additional nonimmune adverse food reactions. The classic example is diarrhea from milk. Additionally, very often parents will incorrectly attribute a symptom such as hyperactivity to a food allergy.
