Abstract
Two-and three-dimensional vectors will be familiar to most readers. Unfortunately, familiarity is not sufficient to prevent applications of vectors in the physical sciences from being a common source of difficulty. Problems often arise as a result of basic misconceptions, fundamental properties of vectors which were not fully appreciated by the student during his/her first introduction to the subject. There is no denying the crucial role played by the vector concept in science; a sound grasp of the fundamentals is mandatory for the successful student. Most students will want to go beyond fundamentals.
