Abstract
It is often necessary to clone PCR products. In this chapter, the advantages and disadvantages of various strategies are discussed. It should be kept in mind, however, that PCR can be used to achieve many objectives—such as obtaining sequence information, preparing probes for hybridization analysis, and constructing new hybrid genes—without ever cloning the PCR products. In some instances, it is even advantageous not to clone the products, as described in other chapters.
