Abstract

We present some topics of interest with two-dimensional problems in mind. The existence of smooth solutions and finite-time blow-up, wave interactions, and generalized Riemann problems in 1-D are all essential in handling two-dimensional Riemann problems. We also cover the celebrated Glimm’s scheme and Nishida’s existence of solutions for the isothermal system with large initial data.
