Abstract
Syncope is a common symptom in the general population, reflected by the lifetime prevalence of between 30 and 50 %. Therefore, it is imperative that non-specialists identify and reassure those with relatively benign conditions such as reflex (neurally-mediated) syncope, while referring those at risk of injury and/or sudden death for specialist advice and management. This chapter will focus on reflex and cardiac-related syncope.
