Abstract
The unit sometimes has to be operating for a finite interval S which is random, because the working times of a job might be random. Then, we take up inspection policies, replacement policies with minimal repair and imperfect preventive maintenance policies for a random interval. The expected costs of each policy are obtained, and optimum policies which minimize them are discussed analytically and numerically. Furthermore, we consider replacement policies with a discount rate for a random interval.
