Abstract
This chapter traces the history of the development of the methods and practices used in 3D modeling. It also draws parallels between this development and its relationship to sculpture and design. In its various sections, a detailed discussion of the various approaches is provided; illustrating the changes in method as hardware and software has become more sophisticated over the years. It demonstrates how an artist uses existing and new technology to achieve aesthetic goals and how technology has been influenced by this achievement.
