Abstract

The aims in the treatment of a patellar fracture are:

  • To restore the continuity of the extensor mechanism

  • To restore articular congruity

  • To avoid at all costs a patellectomy

  • To limit the devascularization of the patella

  • To restore adequate stability in order to achieve early mobilization of the knee
