Abstract
Abdominal surgery occupies much of the spectrum of pediatric surgery and embraces correction of many types of congenital anomalies. It ranges from the very simple to the most highly complex surgery, especially when occurring in very young children with life-threatening anomalies. This chapter aims to provide information on complications, risks, and consequences on a wide range of pediatric abdominal surgery. For other associated surgical procedures, refer to the relevant chapter and volume.
