Abstract

Vascular access is an essential procedure for instillation, removal, or hemofiltration of agents into or out of the blood. Access to the peritoneal cavity for dialysis is also included for convenience under this heading. This chapter brings together a range of surgical vascular and peritoneal access procedures with the aim of providing information on complications, risks, and consequences of those procedures. For information on associated procedures, refer to the relevant chapter or volume.
