Part of the book series: Surgery: Complications, Risks and Consequences ((SCRC))

Abstract

Amputation of a limb, digit, or other body part is usually an operation of last resort where satisfactory disease control or functional salvage is not possible. This chapter brings together a range of surgical amputation procedures with the aim of providing information on complications, risks, and consequences of those procedures. For information on associated procedures, refer to the relevant chapter or volume.
