Abstract

Congenital lesions of the testis include undescended testis (cryptorchidism), ambiguous genitalia, splenogonadal fusion, polyorchidism, and testicular microlithiasis. Acquired nonneoplastic lesions of the testis include macrocalcifications, cystic transformation (tubular ectasia) of rete testis, mesothelial (tunica albuginea) cysts, testicular trauma and hematoma, intratesticular varicocele, orchitis, intratesticular abscess, Fournier gangrene, intratesticular infarction, and testicular torsion. Ultrasound is the mainstay imaging technique used in the diagnosis of these disorders. In this chapter, imaging findings and pathological features of congenital and acquired nonneoplastic disorders of the testis are summarized.
