Integrated Fault-Detection and Isolation and Fault-Tolerant Control

  • Chapter
Fault-Tolerant Process Control

Abstract

This chapter generalizes the results of Chap. 3 to include multi-input multi-output nonlinear systems subject to multiple faults in the control actuators and constraints on the manipulated inputs. An integrated framework for fault detection and isolation and fault-tolerant control is presented. Similar to Chap. 3, the case that state feedback is available is considered first and then the case of output feedback is presented. Applications of the methods to a chemical reactor and a reverse osmosis water desalination process are presented to demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the methods.
