Abstract
It had been yet another long duty weekend on call for MacLeod, a long duty weekend of sustained, sleepless, exhausting hours in Casualty and completely debilitating hours on the wards that had begun on Friday morning and had just come to a close late Monday afternoon. Not the sort of weekend that exists nowadays except during dark nights in the City during corporate takeover season.
