Abstract
In situations where there is suboptimal positioning of the transseptal puncture or where anatomic factors complicate positioning of the MitraClip, advanced techniques may be required to successfully perform the procedure. These situational steering techniques rely on understanding how the various controls of the MitraClip guide and clip delivery system work. In this chapter, the three most common and important situational steering scenarios are described. These include (1) inadequate height, (2) excessive height, and (3) aorta “hugger.”
