Abstract
This chapter explains the importance of vision for successful CPOE projects. The author provides a structure for developing and managing order set content for a CPOE project. In addition, he discusses how to one plans the initial scope of their CPOE project. The author stresses that patient safety is the best reason for a hospital or health system to pursue a CPOE project.
