Abstract
A 72 year old male seen in the nursing home presented with an eruption of bright, ‘beefy’ red erythema involving his back, buttocks and legs (Fig. 9.1). The rash was surrounded by satellite pustules and papules located on the periphery of the affected area. Certain areas of the infection were eroded, raw, and oozing. The patient had a history of diabetes and obesity. He had a history of 15+ years of steroid use for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
