Abstract

Charcot disease of the foot and ankle is still a disease with unknown origin. The associated arthropathy is linked with diabetes mellitus (DM) and peripheral polyneuropathy (PNP). We know about the neuropathic and the vascular theory, called the French and the German theories, respectively.
