Abstract
This paper2 discusses some issues which affect women in the IT community. They turn out to be primarily social issues rather than issues which are directly related to or caused by the nature of IT itself. I offer them primarily as a basis for discussion and in the hope that they might help to focus our attention on the lack of women entrants to IT and hence lead us on to explore some possible solutions.
