Abstract

The Computing Department at Birmingham Polytechnic has been in existence for only five to six years. Prior to this it was a section belonging to the Computer Centre. The second group of students has just graduated this year. Interestingly, of the three first class honours students, two were female, one of whom was from an ethnic minority background.
