Translabyrinthine Internal Auditory Canal Exposure
Having accomplished a complete mastoidectomy and transmastoid labyrinthectomy, the next oto-neurosurgical building block is exposure of the internal auditory canal (IAC). This will provide access to the cerebellopontine (CP) angle. The authors prefer to skeletonize the IAC after the posterior and middle fossa plates have been removed as described above. This enhances exposure by allowing retraction of the dura.
